Auto Accident Insurance Claim - How to File a Car Insurance Claim

Did your car get damaged through an accident and you are wondering what next to do? If the car was insured, you can file for a car accident insurance claim and get your car replaced in couple of weeks if not days.

Whether the police report faults you or not on the cause of the accident, if you know how to file your legal paper work properly, will can be sure of getting your car back.

Let's take a look at some of the things you need to do to fast track the recovery of your damaged vehicle.

Step one: Draft a Demand Letter

You have to write a demand letter to the insurance firm in charge of your car insurance. Many people are lost as to what to write here. There are a few damages that you should include in your demand letter, they include and not limited to damage to or damages leading to: Property, Self, Medical bills, Hospital bills, general loss, Emotional trauma etc

You have to also attach all receipts where applicable to back up these claims.

Step two: Follow Up the Letter

It's no use writing a letter if you cannot follow it up. The officer attached to your account will contact you after receiving your letter and will demand for your auto accident settlement. An offer will be made to you and they will have you sign some documents. Be careful not to sign hurriedly because signing will mean that the claim has been settled. If you are satisfied with the claim settlement after careful consideration, you may sign the documents else you may want to take further action.

Step three (Optional)Auto Accident Attorney Help

After you have went through all of this trouble you may even yet need an auto accident attorney. This is why I would just retain one at the beginning. If you get a lawyer you will probably get 3 to 4 times the money that you would get by taking on the insurance company by yourself. They have big bad lawyers that are on their side. These lawyers know the law and any loops holes that will get them out of paying.
