It does not include telephone calls where the customer may have called the shop versus filling out the online form. Any direct call-in lead would increase the conversion rate even higher.

Bottom line: In August 2012, approximately 5 transmission repair leads can be generated in $100 in advertising spend on Google. IE, if you are spending $1,000 a month in Google in a larger metro area, you should be generating a minimum of 30-50 leads per month. If you are not, either the bidding is far higher there, or either your keywords, ad or landing/page website is not optimized properly.

As a comparison, in 2006 you could generate approximately 50 leads for $100. The bidding war has increased the cost by 10 times in 6 years. Scratched glass is a fairly common issue, which although may not require immediate repair, may bother you just enough to warrant one. There are many household items, which you can use to remove a light scratch. In this article, we will outline a few simple tricks to help you in your DIY scratched auto glass repair.

Step 1: Prior to beginning your repair, do the fingernail test. Drag your nail across the scratched surface and notice whether it catches on the groove. If it does, your scratch it likely too deep to fix yourself. In this case, your best bet is bringing the vehicle into a shop.

Step 2: If you've concluded the scratch is a light one, begin by applying a white, non-gel toothpaste to the surface area. Make sure to cover the entire region with the paste, and be liberal.

Mix a paste consisting of ground mustard seed and white vinegar to apply to slightly deeper scratches. Mustard seed is generally available in the spice section of the supermarket. Mix one tablespoon of dry mustard with a few drops of vinegar at a time to avoid making the mix too wet.

Step 6: Take your new mixture and apply to the scratched surface. Grab yourself another drink, and allow to dry. Once it has hardened, buff it out with your soft cotton rag from earlier.

Step 7: If your scratch is still being a bit stubborn, you may opt to purchase a repair kit from your local auto shop. Many people have great success with these kits. However, if you find yourself still staring at that pesky little scratch, it just may be time to call in the professionals.

Step 8: Go online and check the various repair shops in your area. Read reviews and compare pricing charts. Once you've found your shop, give them a call and set up your appointment. Success is just around the corner.

The Preferred Body Shop Trap and How to Escape It

Promoting preferred body shops is standard procedure for many insurance companies. If you are insured by one of the insurance companies that has preferred body shops, you are already the prime target for this trap.

Insurance companies negotiate with body shops. They will offer the body shop a large amount of claims work. The body shop must agree to do the work for lower negotiated labor and parts pricing. Body shops look at the deal and see that even though their profit margin might be lower per car, they will get more business.

The body shop will usually have to agree to use cheap aftermarket parts, which are of inferior quality to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts. OEM auto parts have to pass strict inspection with the US Department of Transportation to be installed on a new vehicle. Aftermarket parts do not undergo such inspections. They might fit your car, but are arguably of lower quality than OEM parts.

It's a great deal for the body shop, as they get more business. It's a great deal for the insurance company, as they lower claims costs.

The policyholder who has an automobile claim after a wreck is in the trap! Your car may be less safe after repairs using aftermarket parts, and certainly will sustain a drop in value after the repairs.
